PUPILS from Ombersley Endowed School hosted a Big Fairtrade Breakfast for fellow students, teachers, parents and grandparents.

The grand event signalled the end of their Fairtrade topic which had seen the youngsters learn about the importance of Fairtrade products.

They also enjoyed a tour around the Tesco in Warndon villages to identify Fairtrade products and they were challenged to identify locally or British grown foods in the fruit and veg section.

And they were given a sneak preview of what goes on behind the scenes of the popular supermarket.

Headteacher Caroline Moore said: “We were very lucky to have food and vouchers donated from four local supermarkets, which enabled the children to prepare a delicious breakfast for all our visitors.”

Year four pupils made banana bread and year three made chocolate muffins and served porridge, cereal, toast with jam or honey, tea, coffee and juices.

All of the products were Fairtrade, British or locally produced.

The staff want to thank Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons and Co-op for their generous contributions – the breakfast was a huge success and raised almost £100 for Save The Children Syrian refugees.
