OMBERSLEY has been recognised by the Alzheimer’s Society as a Dementia Friendly village.

Despite only launching its campaign in the summer, Ombersley has become one of three communities from across the county to be recognised for their work in improving the lives of people living with dementia.

Within the space of three months, 65 residents have already shown their support and enthusiasm to make a difference and become Dementia Friends.

Ombersley Dementia Action Alliance (DAA), along with Evesham DAA and Kidderminster DAA all applied to Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friendly Communities and supported by the Side by Side Project, they had to offer evidence of their dementia work and the effect it has had on their local community.

Gill Read, services manager for Alzheimer’s Society said: “Thank you to these three communities who have worked so hard to gain recognition as working towards becoming dementia friendly.

“This will make a huge difference to ensuring every single person living with dementia is understood, respected and supported, and confident they can contribute to community life.”
