DRIVERS have been warned not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary.

The advice has come from Worcestershire Highways which this morning sent out its gritting lorries with snow plough attachments.

Snow started early this morning and more is forecast later today.

Worcestershire Highways warned: “We’ll continue to work today with snowploughs but as snow keeps falling we’ll be battling to get the roads clear.

“Please avoid anything but essential travel.”

The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place for the county and warned those who must travel that journeys will take longer than usual and there problems, delays and disruption is expected on public transport.

First Worcester say the 144 between Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Worcester, is running but with ‘weather-related delays’.
