APRIL’S Operation Snap figures are in with a total of 101 drivers receiving fines from 361 videos submitted by the public.
The West Mercia Police operation calls on residents to submit dash cam footage of potential traffic offences.
Operation Snap also saw 178 police visits to offer road safety advice to motorists in April– the latest figures available.
Of the 361 submissions, 5 followed a crash and 77 resulted in no further action or were not within the West Mercia policing area.
Since the start of 2023, Operation Snap has received 1,346 video submissions, leading to 493 fixed penalty notices and 502 visits by police officers offering drivers road safety advice.
Members of the public can report and submit digital footage showing potential traffic offences via a secure online form.
They can range from driving dangerously or carelessly to overtaking on solid white lines, using a mobile phone while driving, ignoring traffic lights or dangerous driving around other road users, such as horse riders and cyclists.
West Mercia Police’s road traffic officers review each submission and take the appropriate action.
