WESTLANDS in Droitwich was awash with community spirit last month when hundreds of residents joined the estate’s family fun day.
The fun filled day, held this year on August 13, has been a highlight of the estate for more than a decade and is jointly funded by Platform Housing Group and Wychavon District Council.
Organised by The Moving Forward Project, families enjoyed a sunny afternoon of free activities including face painting, inflatables, fairground rides and ice pops on the day.
Families also had the chance to meet with a wide range of local organisations, including the police, fire service and army, all on hand to engage with the community. More than 440 people attended.
Patrick Connelly, a communities officer at Wychavon District Council said: “It was a well organised event and we commend our partners Moving Forward for their relentless efforts to make the fun day the success it is every year.
“We would also like to extend our thanks to Platform for match funding the day with us and the wider partners that had stalls at the event.”
The Moving Forward Project works closely with Platform throughout the year, delivering initiatives such as weekly drop in sessions, IT support and seasonal events, with Hallowe’en and Christmas already in the planning stages.
Nikki Beeston, Project Manager at Moving Forward said: “We would like to extend our thanks to all the agencies who came along to support the event.
“It was wonderful to see so many people engaging, taking part and enjoying the activities.
“Events like this are such a valuable way of bringing families and the wider community together, creating opportunities for connection and support.”
