HEALTH bosses in Worcestershire are urging patients to get their repeat prescriptions ordered now before the Christmas break.
Many GP practices and pharmacies will have limited opening hours between Christmas and New Year, so patients, especially those with long-term conditions are being encouraged to order and collect their repeat prescriptions in plenty of time.
Dr Ian Tait, Chair for NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “In order to stay well, patients should make sure they have enough medicine for over the Christmas and New Year period.
“It’s really important for those who have problems walking, are elderly or frail, particularly if the weather takes a turn and we have ice or snow. No one wants to end up being admitted to hospital over the festive break so now’s the time to get organised.
“And as a reminder, no one wants to spend the festive period with flu so it’s not too late to get your flu jab. Contact your GP or pharmacy to arrange.”
Patients are reminded that, while practices remain open, first contact should always be made by telephone or online, at which point the most appropriate appointment will be offered.
