People and businesses urged to have their say on SWDP which earmarks 730 new homes for Droitwich

RESIDENTS and businesses are being urged to have their say on the latest South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) which will determine how many homes are built before 2041 in Droitwich, Worcester, Evesham, Pershore, Malvern and Tenbury Wells.

A consultation has been launched after the document was given the green light by the councils in the south of the county and responses must be submitted before the deadline of 5pm on December 16.

In total 14,000 new homes are deemed necessary, on top of the 28,400 required by 2030 – half of those have been built, having already been outlined in the current SWDP.

If the document remains as it is, Droitwich would take another 730 new homes which would include 600 to the north of Union Lane, 112 on land off Tagwell Road and nine each on Hill Top Farm, Newland Lane, and Land at Mayflower Road.

Fred Davies, Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils’ planning policy manager, said: “I hope as many people as possible will take the opportunity to attend the roadshows, get the full facts for themselves and then crucially, submit their comments.”

The best way to comment on the review is online at www.swdevelopmentplan.org, but responses can be emailed to [email protected] or posted to South Worcestershire Development Plan, Civic Centre, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Pershore, WR10 1PT.
