RESIDENTS are being urged to vote for Droitwich’s parks in a contest to find the nation’s favourite green areas.

Winners of Green Flag awards – which includes Vines Park and Lido Park – are eligible for Keep Britain Tidy’s People’s Choice Awards.

The public can vote between now and September 30 and the top ten sites in the country will be announced on October 15.

The Green Flag scheme, which has been running for 30 years, is a sign to visitors the areas boast the highest possible environmental standards, are beautifully maintained and have the very best facilities.

Coun Emma Stokes, Portfolio Holder for Environment, Recycling and Street Scene at Wychavon District Council, said: “It is an honour to receive Green Flag status for our parks and to win the People’s Choice Award would be the icing on the cake.

“As a council, we and our contractors- Continental Landscapes Limited- work hard throughout the year to maintain the high standards expected by our residents. Please take a few minutes to vote.”

Paul Todd, International Green Flag Award Manager, said: “This year we have had more Green Flag Award winning sites than ever before.

“The People’s Choice Award is an opportunity to show how much your favourite park means to you. Make your voice heard and vote now.”

People should go to greenflagaward.org and click on the ‘Vote’ button to vote for their favourite.
