THIS BEAUTIFUL and poignant poppy display has been installed at Droitwich’s St Augustine’s Church to commemorate Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.

The poppy cascade will honour all those from the town and beyond who participated – and in some cases – lost their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts.

A spokesperson for St Augustine’s Church in Droitwich said: “A huge thank you to all who contributed to the process in any way.

“The hard task of creating the actual banner was completed by small groups led by Meg Richards and Jen Kenny who worked tirelessly on the project.”

They added they were also grateful to Jamie from J Wyton Services Ltd Construction and Landscaping and Garden Care Services for actually hanging the banner on a very windy and rainy day.

The church members also want to thank The Crafty Cafe and The Old Cock Inn for supporting the project and providing a headquarters space earlier this year.

“Please do go and have a look and spare a thought for those commemorated.”

Remembrance Sunday takes place on November 9 with Armistice Day – signalling the anniversary of the end of the First World War – on the Tuesday after, November 11.
