A LARGE crowd headed to the 75th Hanbury Countryside Show on Saturday, despite the bad weather.

The extravaganza featured a full line-up of entertainment for the whole family which celebrated British agriculture and rural life.

Proving a big hit were the main arena performances including the display of agricultural machinery in action and the Pony Club mounted games.

The food, drink and craft marquees were brimming and the dog show proved a bigger hit than ever.

And with the return to the full livestock and horse competitions, including top class show jumping, more than 800 classes were contested across the show on the day.

In ‘The Farmyard’, visitors were able to get up close and learn all about their favourite animals.

Richard Heath, one of the show’s organisers, said: “Saturday was a true triumph for all of the hard-working show committee and the feedback from the large crowd who came dressed for the wet weather has been incredible.”

Last year there was criticism of the traffic system which had led to long delays but, Richard said this year’s method worked perfectly and stood the show in good stead for future years.

“We look forward to the next show on Saturday, July 1, 2023.”
