CROWDS flocked to celebrate Droitwich Spa’s proud and impressive brine history at Salt Fest last weekend.
Visitors were greeted with a large number of activities across the weekend, including live music, Roman history re-enactments to take people back in time, antiques, dog shows, a food hall and a firework display.
The opening ceremony was undertaken by the 2516 (Droitwich) – RAF Air Cadets marching through town, the Town Crier in Vines Park and appearances from dignatries.
As Salt Fest comes to a close on Sunday, Droitwich Community Choir will perform songs from ‘Last Night of the Proms’ which will be followed by bell-ringing at St Augustine’s Church and fireworks above the church building.
On Sunday night, to close the festival, around 8,000 people turned up to see a firework display at St Augustine’s Church.
Rev Laura Handy counted down and pressed the button to set off the event.
She said it was nice to see people ‘as far as the eye could see’ and how fantastic it was for people from different communities to get together across the weekend.
She added: “You never know how the community is going to respond, and it was great to see thousands of people choosing to come out.”
