AS DROITWICH Arts Fest nears its end, here are the events happening during the final days of the festival, writes Olivia Warburton.
- In Victoria Square tomorrow (Saturday) there will be a chance to engage with the Droitwich Arts Network (DAN) during ‘Arts in View’ from 10.30am. Also in the square will be prose readings, led by Carla Kovac, Sharon Grigg, Jack Walsh and Venessa Morgan happening throughout the morning.
- Also happening tomorrow will be performances by close-up magician Charlie throughout the day from 11am around the town centre.At 2.30pm, starting in Victoria Square, residents can take their own cameras along for the photo walk around the town centre, led by photographers from the Droitwich Arts Network and Droitwich Camera Club.During the afternoon around the town centre, there will be poetry readings from 2pm, led by Nina Lewis, followed by a Poetry Extravaganza in Park’s Cafe, Victoria Square, from 7.30pm.
This is a free event but donations are encouraged.
- The exhibition of International MailArt and work by DAN members will continue until next Friday in the Library.There will also be artists in residence on different days – among them are Kenneth Robinson from 9.30am to 5.30pm today (Friday), Tina Watkins on Monday, July 23, and Wednesday, July 25. Dora and John Brodley will be resident there next Friday, July 27.The library exhibition is available to view from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between 9.30am and 6.30am on Tuesday and 9.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday.
- On Sunday, July 22, Bedworth Brass will be the latest group to perform in the Lido Park bandstand from 2.30pm. It is part of the Bands in the Lido Park, organised by Droitwich Town Couuncil.
- The Booktales and Dreams book group will meet at the Old Cock Inn from 7pm to 9.30pm on Wednesday, July 25, welcoming people of all ages and reading abilities.And next Friday, July 27, there will be the ‘Last Night of the Proms’ at St Andrews Church, featuring rousing classical numbers including Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem. This event is free, but there will be a collection for local good causes.
