BABIES and toddlers have been getting ready for Christmas at TinyTalk Baby Signing and Toddler Talking classes in Droitwich.
From real life sleighs to cute Christmas trees and from inflatable Santa outfits to home-made snowmen, the families went all out to get ready for the festive season.
Teacher Mollie Prior, who has been delivering TinyTalk classes since 2017 in Droitwich, Evesham and Worcester North, said: “I adore seeing our little ones spread the Christmas spirit, our families always go the extra mile to celebrate Christmas.
“We’ve had our busiest term ever at TinyTalk and we’ve got a record number returning for the spring term in January.
“Many of our babies are getting ready for their first Christmas and it’s the perfect opportunity to learn all the signs they’ll need over the holiday period.”
TinyTalk classes are held on Wednesdays at Droitwich Methodist Church.
Mollie has received awards for her one-hour sessions which are full of songs, games, books and sensory activities.
Afterwards there is playtime and refreshments.
During the classes babies and parents are taught signs from British Sign Language to help their little ones communicate before they can speak, ‘giving them a voice’- allowing them to express their thoughts and needs.
This results in far fewer frustrations and tantrums, and very happy, understood babies.
There are toddler talking classes too where Mollie still teach sign but the emphasis moves onto talking and other valuable skills such as turn taking, team work, sharing and social skills.
