Plenty space-theme activities taking place at Droitwich Library over the summer

Droitwich Editorial 6th Aug, 2019   0

WITH the summer holidays in full swing, Droitwich Library has plenty going on to keep children entertained.

Stars and constellations will be the order of the day tomorrow between 2pm and 3pm when there will be discussions about what can be seen in the August night skies. There will also be the chance to make a shiny star and construct a constellation.

Next Friday, August 16, families will be able to create their own space rock from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and then search for the stones as they are hidden around the library. Places are £1 per child.

Space-themed Lego building sessions will be held at the library between 4pm and 5pm. Admission is £1 per child and booking on the workshops is essential.

And from 12.30pm to 1.30pm on August 20, the author of the Chocolate Box children’s book series Cathy Cassidy will be at the library reading extracts of her books and talking about life as an author.

There will also be story walks taking place at Worcestershire’s libraries throughout the school summer holidays to keep children entertained.

Coun Lucy Hodgson, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities said: “It’s great for our libraries to be able to welcome children’s authors and poets to Worcestershire this summer.

“It ties in really well with our efforts in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.”
