THERE’S no reason to go anywhere else this summer other than the Spa, especially with the Droitwich Beer, Cider and Music Festival taking place at the end of this month.
4 Shires Festivals have become renowned for putting on top quality events and this one will be no different.
It takes place from Friday (July 29) to Sunday (August 31) and will feature no less than 30 real ales, seven craft beers, 30 ciders, eight summer ciders and seven drink launches.
And with a line-up of beverages like that, it is guaranteed there really will be something for everyone.
As well as the ales and ciders, the event will also see three top tribute acts take to the stage to delight the crowds.
On the Friday night the fun starts at 8pm with the live music being headlined by Fred Zeppelin who have been playing live for more than 23 years.
According to one of Kerrang’s reader polls Fred Zeppelin are among the top ten best live bands to see – they were the only tribute band listed in any category.
Saturday’s live show is bound to be poignant as well as breath-taking – Absolute Bowie – one of Europe’s finest David Bowie tribute acts – will play the festival from 8pm.
The five piece has toured all over Europe for the last eight years, faithfully performing the music of David Bowie with uncanny accuracy.
The audience will be taken on a journey experiencing the different person as of Bowie, from Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane through to The Thin White Duke and the late 80s. Local bands will take to the stage from 2pm. Tickets for Saturday night – from 8pm to 10.30pm are £10.
And on the Sunday there is a whole day of super summer entertainment planned – top Beach Boys tribute The Beached Boys will perform between 2pm and 3pm and again from 5pm to 6pm, Beach Party DJ James Stevens will take to the stage between 4pm and 5pm with his ‘Twin Deck Caribbean Tropical Ibiza Free Style Dance Party’ sounds production mix.
There will also be a Beach Party Foam Disco from 2pm until 8pm, featuring the environmentally friendly foam cannons.
And, performing in the evening, from 7pm to 9pm, is popular local band Skabucks – The top Two Tone Band features ‘Tone’ Pete Hedges on vox, ‘Trumpet’ Joe ‘The Nippler’Simpson on guitar, Tim Balnaves (The Doctor) on keys, Dan ‘Teacup’ Watson on sax, Olsen Lever on Bass and Tom Ayres on drums
The best thing about Sunday is that all this entertainment is just £3 for the whole day.
Tickets for the whole weekend are also available for £17 and kids are free for the whole weekend.
Add to the beer, cider and music, a funfair, bouncy castles and a children’s party for those aged six months to five years, candy floss, a burger bar, market stalls, exhibition stalls, a zombie bootcamp, car boot sale and more.
