Police investigating double fatal crash on the A449 in Ombersley appeal for two drivers to come forward

OFFICERS investigating a serious crash in Ombersley at the start of this month are trying to track down two drivers travelling down the road just before the collision.

It happened on the A449 around 9.30pm on March 2 when two cars collided near the Ombersley junction on the Worcester-bound carriageway.

Both drivers died at the scene.

Officers investigating a serious collision in Ombersley are appealing to two drivers who were travelling down the road shortly before the incident.

While the investigation is ongoing, officers believe one of the cars, a white Ford Mondeo, was travelling in the wrong direction along the A449 before colliding with an oncoming car, a black Vauxhall Astra.

PC Paul Bosley said: “After reviewing CCTV footage from around the time of the collision we believe there are at least two other cars travelling towards Worcester which passed the white Ford Mondeo being driven in the wrong direction.

“It appears one the drivers may have sounded their horn.

“We are very keen to hear off the drivers or passengers of these two vehicles, as we believe they will have vital information to help with our investigation.

“We are also keen to hear off anyone who may have been travelling on the opposite carriageway towards Kidderminster, or anyone may have any dash cam footage of the white Ford Mondeo being driven along the A449 prior to the collision.”

He added the force’s thoughts continued to be with the families of both victims at this difficult time.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage can call 101, report it online at westmercia.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/ or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
