SHOPPERS in Droitwich have been warned to be on their guard after a woman had her bank card stolen during a distraction theft last Friday (January 29).
It happened between 3.30pm and 4pm as she was in the car park off the Saltway when she was approached by a man who placed a piece of paper in her face and asked for directions to the NHS hospital.
She was just getting into her car at the time and had just placed her handbag on the driver’s seat when she turned to speak to the man.
A second person must have sneaked behind her and taken the card from her bag without her noticing.
It was only when she had returned home that she realised the theft had taken place.
The man who asked for directions had a tanned complexion, was of slim build, aged between 25 and 30, wore a blue shirt and spoke with an Eastern European accent.
Any witnesses or anyone with any information on this or similar incidents should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
