ARTISTS from Droitwich Spa are getting ready to welcome visitors in their studios, homes and shared spaces for the ‘Worcestershire Open Studios’ event this bank holiday weekend.
Now in its fourth year, the popular three-day event will host a diverse collection of arts and crafts which will be available to see and buy.
This will include a range of ceramics, paintings, photographs and jewellery.
The event, between August 25 and 27, will give people the chance to delve into unseen creative spaces and talk directly to artists about their inspiration and creative process.
Don and Steph Emmerich are amongst the Droitwich artists getting ready to offer a warm welcome to anyone who comes to their home.
Don’s landscape and tree inspired paintings will be on display alongside Steph’s hand thrown pottery.
Mixed media artist Maggie Hobbs, is also excited at the prospect of opening her studio to the public.
She said: “Last year was so much fun and it was really lovely meeting such interesting people over the three days.
“I enjoyed spending time talking to and demonstrating my work to those who wanted to know more about my inspiration and techniques.
“Art really can be produced in the smallest of spaces, with minimal materials needed.”
Another artist who will showcase her work is Jane Spencer who uses wool and other fibres such as silk and lace to create tactile pictures, pots, animals and wreaths.
She will be demonstrating needle felting and give visitors the chance to practice themselves so that they can understand how her dimensional artworks are designed and created.
Artist and Worcestershire Open Studios Co-Organiser, Sally Anne Morgan, said: “Discovering some of Worcestershire’s fantastic artistic talent is the perfect way to spend a bank holiday weekend.
“Entry to all venues is free and some are also offering refreshments.
“Whether you’re an art lover, a family looking for a trip out, a budding artist or just fancy a day exploring, you’ll definitely receive a warm welcome.”

Visitors to five or more studios will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw for £100 to spend on artwork created by one or more of the artists.
