Praise for paramedics, Alexandra Hospital staff and bystanders after partner's medical scare

A WOMAN has praised paramedics, staff at Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital and bystanders for their help when a family member suffered a medical emergency.

Suzanne Chatterley was about to go to Morrisons when her partner suddenly started slurring his words and struggling for breath.

“He was acting like he was drunk but he wasn’t and he has asthma but it is well-controlled so I did not think it would be that,” she said.

However he said he was fine and they carried on but his condition deteriorated and was on the point of passing out when they got to the Morrisons car park.

Suzanne called 999 as four men and a woman came to help.

By this time her partner was slumped across the car seat.

“At this point I thought he was dead,” said Suzanne.

After an initial assessment by paramedics he was rushed to the resuscitation room at the Alex.

During the next few hours he had an MRI, CAT and brain scan, bloods taken and then a chest X-ray revealed he had an infection in his left lung.

He was taken into the medical assessment unit (MAU) where he spent the night before being discharged the next morning.

He is now back home and doing well.

Suzanne said: “I can’t thank everyone enough – from the Alex staff to the ambulance crew and the people who helped us in Morrisons car park.

“Every time I have been to that hospital, everyone has been brilliant.”
