RESIDENTS of Willow Court in Droitwich can finally breathe a sigh of relief as a much-needed safety railing has been installed along a steep incline.
The steep incline connects their homes to the Park Way area.
The project, which was funded by the County Council’s highways budget, has been in the pipeline for three years, with local residents advocating for its installation due to safety concerns.
The need for the railing became apparent as a significant portion of Willow Court’s population comprises elderly people who found navigating the steep pathway challenging and potentially
hazardous.
With concerns over stability and security while walking, residents rallied for the installation of a railing to provide the necessary support and peace of mind.
Donna Harris, a resident of Willow Court, said: “The railing was something many of the local residents were asking for, as the steepness of the path was something a number of them worried about, they have a railing to help them now.”
Local County Councillor, Richard Morris, said that he is really pleased the railing is now in place as it is vital for the community.
“The railing will help residents feel safer when walking about.
“It has taken longer than I had hoped to meet their request but, finally, it’s now there.”
