President Di hands over reins to Glenys in Droitwich

THE OUTGOING president of the Inner Wheel of Droitwich Spa Di Sutch welcomed members to her last meeting before she handed over the chain of office to Glenys Griffiss who will preside for the forthcoming year.

Special guest Catherine Bouvier received cheques for £2,150 for President Di’s chosen charity NET Patient Foundation which supports the neuroendocrine cancer community.

Catherine was instrumental in the setting up of the foundation and the donation will help produce materials and educational programmes to increase awareness of neuroendocrine cancers.

NET receives no regular financial support from Government or any other cancer charities and the club made every effort during the year to raise funds for President Di’s charity.

Annual reports were given and President Di gave her valedictory address, thanking her secretary and treasurer and all the committee for their support during her term of office and for making the year a happy time for everyone.

Glenys, who was proud to accept the presidency, announced her charity for year would be St John Ambulance.

And she outlined the first few months of her programme.

Glenys has been very involved with the Norbury Theatre and no doubt the theatre will feature largely in the social calendar.

Members look forward to an enjoyable year during Glenys’ presidency and a programme of fun and fellowship.

President Di’s year concluded with a very enjoyable barbeque in the garden of Rotarian Jim Gillespie and his wife Lynda, the Inner Wheel’s treasurer.
