A PROLIFIC Droitwich shoplifter has been banned from entering town stores including Sainsbury’s, Boots and Morrisons for the next two years.

Simon Matthews, 54, of no fixed abode, was found guilty at Kidderminster Magistrates Court of five counts of theft from a shop for which he was given a 12-month community order, as well as the two-year criminal behaviour order (CBO).

The order prohibits him from entering, Home Bargains on Roman Way Retail Park, Kidderminster Road, Marks and Spencer’s on Worcester Road and the Saltway Waitrose.

Matthews also can’t go into the BP UK on Worcester Road, the Boots and Morrisons stores in St Andrew’s Square and the  Sainsbury’s Local on Tolley Way.

He is further prohibited from entering, exiting or being in any retail premises wearing headwear such as a cap, hat or balaclava or covering his face by any means, such as wearing sunglasses and goggles (unless prescription), or covering face with hands.

Police Sgt Cathy Atkinson of Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We are pleased to get this two-year CBO for Matthews whose prolific shoplifting has harmed retailers and the community here in Droitwich.

“Anyone who sees him breaching his order should call 101 or report it online to us so we can take action.”
