Raft of improvements on the way for Droitwich Railway Station as groups join forces

A RAFT of improvements are being carried out at Droitwich Spa Railway Station.

They are being implemented by a number of organisations joining forces, including Wychavon District Council, Droitwich Town Council, West Midlands Trains, The Friends of Droitwich Station and Worcestershire County Council.

Works include improved pedestrian signage between the station and the town centre, enhancements to the underpass beneath Ombersley Way, improved highway signage, the removal of vegetation from footways and signs, improved cycle parking, clearer pedestrian routes though the station and more.

Some of the work has already been completed and the rest of the improvements are set to take place over the next two years.

Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for highways and transport, Coun Alan Amos, said: “It is essential the residents of Droitwich and nearby communities have access to a safe and attractive station whether they are using the train to get to work, go to school, go shopping or meet friends.

“It’s also important to remember the station is a gateway to the town for visitors, too, and first impressions are important.

“I am delighted that all of the organisations who have a part to play in improving the rail users’ experience of the station have joined forces to make this happen.”
