RAIL STRIKES- No WMR services to Droitwich on Wednesday and Saturday

Droitwich Editorial 23rd Jul, 2022   0

WEST Midlands Railway (WMR) is urging passengers in Droitwich to plan ahead after two strike days were announced for next week.

There will be no services on the Birmingham and Worcester line via Droitwich Spa next Wednesday and Saturday.

This is due to a strike by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) on Wednesday and driver union the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) on Saturday.

There is also expected to be some minor disruption to services on Thursday morning due to train displacement.

Saturday’s strike will result in no WMR services running at all and those attending Commonwealth Games events have been advised to use other modes of travel, including specially laid-on road transport.

WMR customer experience director Jonny Wiseman said: “It is very disappointing that these planned strikes are set to cause significant disruption to our customers.

“On both affected dates customers should only travel if their journey is essential and they have no means of transport available to them.

“People holding advance tickets for travel on the affected dates can use them on alternative dates or return them to their point of purchase for a refund.”
