Rallying call for more Droitwich community groups to use The Cabin

Droitwich Editorial 26th Sep, 2023 Updated: 2nd Oct, 2023   0

A RALLYING call has been issued for the Droitwich community to use a town hub to help it fulfill its potential.

The Cabin, which opened in 2020, provides a rentable space for community and public service organisations.

Droitwich Spa Town Council clerk updated members on the use of The Cabin at a full meeting of the local authority on Monday, September 26.

Council Clerk, Mark Keld, expressed The Cabin’s success as an asset used by Droitwich Spa High School – where it is located – however explained the necessity for further use by community organisations so it can fulfill its potential.

The Cabin was given Community Legacy Funding in 2019 so it could be regularly used by community groups as well as Droitwich Spa High School.

A meeting was arranged by the town clerk with the high school’s management team and Wychavon District Council on August 16 but the meeting did not go ahead.

The town clerk is now liaising with Wychavon District Council funding manager, David Manning, to arrange another meeting with the high school in order to encourage them to market The Cabin to the community to increase its use.

Droitwich Spa Town Council will continue to oversee the delivery of the hub as a community asset with Councillors Matthew Brook and Rod Hopkins serving on the management committee as overseers of the site.
