Record-breaking amount raised at Droitwich Spa High School

Droitwich Editorial 24th Oct, 2022   0

A RECORD-breaking £4300 was raised for local, national and international charities at this year’s Droitwich Spa High School and Sixth Form Centre’s charities week.

The money will be divided between Heads Up, a local charity focussing on young people’s mental health, Macmillan Cancer Support, their partner school in Ngobit, Kenya and The Little Princess Trust.

Charities week is a Sixth Form student-organised event, led by the Head Student Team, which sees all teachers and pupils getting involved in exciting fund-raising events and charity stalls.

The High School’s version of The Chase, TaskMaster, carpool karaoke, a teacher Lip Sync Battle and a head shave were a few of the events which took place throughout the week.

This year’s achievement was also set in a climate where many families are experiencing additional pressure due to the rising cost of living.

The previous target to beat was £3650 was set back in 2018.

The school also raised £1921 for the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, making their total raised for charities this year over £6000.

Natalie Waters, Head Teacher, said: “Charities Week is held every year in support of charities chosen by the Sixth Form Council.

“The team organising the week’s programme are shown below. It is their combination of enthusiasm, optimism and first-class organisational skills which allowed the school to raise this record-breaking sum.”
