Droitwich Editorial 9th Nov, 2016   0

A SPECIAL Remembrance-themed art exhibition which will run until Tuesday (November 15) got under way yesterday (Tuesday) in Droitwich town centre.

The free event, at the Canalside Studios Gallery, St Andrews Square will feature a display of military paintings created by local artists and also an incredible knitted memorial tapestry put together by Ann Reed.

The collection is available to view from 10.30am to 4pm each day to coincide with this weekend’s Remembrance commemorations.

Justine Humphries and Karen Hotchkiss, who run the Canalside Studios and the Gallery in Droitwich, are members of Droitwich Arts Network

They said: “We have a theme each month for artists and for the first two weeks of this month we are proud to have the Remembrance exhibition for November.”

The pair provide hanging space for members to display work and space for them to be ‘artists in residence’ and also run various courses on most days of the week, ranging from beginners classes to sessions for more experienced artists.

Justine and Karen revealed the next themed exhibition would be centred around wildlife and encourage people to paint pictures to raise awareness of the plight of animals which are rare or becoming extinct.
