RESIDENTS are being urged to pay tribute to the fallen from conflicts past and present at the town’s annual Remembrance Parade next Sunday (November 8).
The event will take place at the war memorial in Victoria Square.
This year sees a change in proceedings, with the main parade taking place after the Act of Remembrance and the salute being taken when the procession passes on its way to St Andrew’s Church following the Act of Remembrance.
Organisations should muster in the Covercroft car park (not Union Lane) from approximately 9.30am until 10.30am prior to moving off to Victoria Square for the Remembrance Ceremony itself.
The civic party will meet from 10am onwards at St Richard’s House and will be processing from there at 10.30am to be in place when the organisations take up their positions in Victoria Square.
People wishing to remember those servicemen and women who gave their lives in the service of their country and for our freedom should meet at the memorial by 10.45am.
A two minutes’ silence will be held before Last Post is played. Prayers and the laying of wreaths will then follow.
The Mayor of Droitwich Spa Graham Beale will take the salute when the parade proceeds to St Andrew’s Church, St Andrews Street for the church service at 11.15am.
People are also being urged to support this year’s Droitwich Spa Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Those who wish to lay a wreath but have not yet ordered one can contact Katherine by email at [email protected] or by calling her on 01905 921557.
