Residents at Droitwich day care create Valentine's tree

RESIDENTS attending Westmead Day Care in Droitwich have been preparing for Valentine’s Day by creating a love-themed tree.

Real branches were used and the heart-shaped messages written to loved ones past and present were tied to the tree with ribbons to take the place of the leaves.

Among the notes were messages from husbands whose wives visit the centre and cards for friends, grandchildren and even a beloved puppy.

Ruth Green, 91, who wrote her card to her late husband Stanley, said: “I have told all my family about what we have been doing and they think it is a really nice idea.”

Manager Jacqui Brown said: “Some people may not be mobile enough to get out and buy a card so this has been a lovely way for them to put their thoughts in writing and tell someone special how much they mean to them.”
