RUNNERS can ‘Go Bright for Sight’ this summer when the popular colour run returns to Droitwich for the fourth time.

The 5k run on July 1 at the new venue of Churchfields Farm in Salwarpe, will see participants run, jog, walk or dance the route covered in paint, all in aid of Sight Concern in Worcestershire.

Starting off dressed in white, runners will make their way through multi-coloured paint stations and by the time they reach the finish line, everyone will be covered in paint and smiles.

Last year’s event saw more than 500 people take part, with £6,000 raised for the charity.

Gillian Kerton from Churchfields, said: “My family has been farming this land for five generations and we’ve always believed that community spirit is important.

“We are thrilled to host such a happy and memorable event that brings friends and families together to have fun and raises funds for a special local charity.”

Physique Fitness, Bootcamp Droitwich and Julie Liggins Fitness have been actively supporting the Go Bright for Sight Colour Run for the last few years.

Jenny Gage, chief officer of the charity, said the colour run was open to runners and walkers of all ages and anyone with a visual impairment was also welcome as there would be guides to help those who had suffered sight loss.

“Thank you to Droitwich Athletics Club for their continued support helping develop the route and marshalling and to Julie Liggins Fitness for doing the dance warm up with the crowd.”

Early bird entry fees (open until May 31) which include the cost of the Paint Stations, entertainment and a pair of neon sunglasses, are £15 for adults and £7.50 for children (age three and under free).

A family ticket (two adults and two children) is £35.

Tickets need to be booked in advance.

Participants should also raise as much money as possible to help the charity’s work supporting local blind and partially sighted people to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
