Residents warned about roadworks beginning in Gurneys Lane tomorrow

Droitwich Editorial 13th Mar, 2016 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

WORK will be carried out on Gurneys Lane in Droitwich tomorrow to permanently remove a silver birch tree.

Wychavon District Council will be resurfacing the block paved courtyard and will be removing the tree which the authority said was lifting the surface and causing a hazard to pedestrians.

It is believed to have outgrown its space and will not replaced as the location of underground power cables restricts the pit installation necessary to relocate it.

The circular seat around the tree will also be dismantled but will be relocated to another area.

Peter Head, property and project manager at Wychavon District Council, said provided the weather was good, the work should be completed before the Easter weekend.

“The lane will remain open to pedestrians during the work and our contractor will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum.”
