THE winners of the Wychavon Sunflower Competition have been revealed.
The competition received a number of entries from Droitwich, however, their sunflowers were not quite tall enough to clinch the top spot and the £100 Amazon voucher prize.
However Wychbold runner-up Monica Vaness said: “I was very pleasantly surprised to be notified that I was one of the runners-up.
“Thank you for such a wonderful initiative and the chance for me to grow sunflowers for the first time.”
Monica was one of five runners-up who have received £20 Amazon vouchers.
Other entrants were given £10 vouchers for their efforts.
Meanwhile the Huish family, who won the competition, were over the moon to find out that they had grown the tallest sunflower.
Lucy Huish from Evesham said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won, we absolutely loved taking part in this competition, our garden was brimming with colour.
“We’d like to thank the refuse workers and other key workers who kept going during the pandemic.
“The ones who collect our bins are fantastic, they are always so hard working and cheerful.”
