Retired Droitwich residents celebrate successful funding bid for yoga classes

RESIDENTS of a retirement complex in Droitwich are celebrating after being awarded funding to extend a specialist yoga club.

Those living at The Herriotts, which is owned and managed by Platform Housing Group, applied to the housing association in order to extend its seated yoga club for themselves and the wider community.

The funding will help the club provide classes for the next six months and has been made possible through Platform’s own Community Chest Fund for its customers or local charities and other organisations.

Liz Jauncey, resident and participant of the classes, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this grant from Platform Housing Group.

“The classes not only support physical and mental well being, they also offer an opportunity for residents and people in the community to come together, develop in confidence, make new friends and feel more connected.”

Marion Duffy, chief operations officer at Platform Housing Group said:

“Ensuring our customers have access to activities that aid physical health and encourage better mental health is really important within our communities.

“These seated exercises are tailored for the older person and those with disabilities. We are so glad to support this project.”
