REVEALED - Final plans for new Droitwich Business Park bringing a Sainsbury's Local, Costa Coffee and 235 jobs

Droitwich Editorial 14th Apr, 2022   0

PLANS have been submitted for a new modern business park in Droitwich which will feature a Sainsbury’s Local, Costa Coffee drive-through and ultra-rapid vehicle charging points.

Hinton Group has put forward the proposals for land between Roman Way and Copcut Boulevard which is part of the wider ‘Copcut Rise’ masterplan.

It follows significant market research undertaken by local agents.

Those behind the scheme say the proposed commercial uses have evolved to ensure they meet the need of people in the area.

The Costa will also have cafe seating so residents of Copcut Rise can meet there.

The ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging points for eight vehicles, provided by Motor Fuel Group, will form part of the 58-space car park for the retail uses.

Bosses say overall the proposed development will deliver economic benefits through both the construction and operational phases and, over the long term, the development will provide up to 235 jobs, supporting up to £6.1million in wages annually to the Droitwich Spa economy.

The submission of the planning application follows public engagement with local residents which showed that most respondents were supportive of the proposed development and highlighted specific support for new jobs and investment in Droitwich.

A total of 591 residential addresses surrounding the site were contacted for comment and the plans were featured in the Droitwich Standard, as well as other news outlets.

Some people expressed concerns about noise impact so the developers enlisted the help of acoustic engineers to gauge what it would be like.

As a result, one of the proposed commercial units has been rotated 90 degrees to ensure minimal impact on existing and future neighbouring residential properties.

This will result in the servicing area being positioned further away from residential properties and closer to the A38 roundabout.

The proposed development will also include the installation of acoustic fence barriers of 2.5m in height at sensitive locations across the site.
