NEW road safety measures have been installed along a road in Droitwich after concerns with speeding along the route.

A vehicle activated speed (VAS) sign has been installed on Tagwell Road after a campaign by Worcestershire County councillor for Droitwich East, Dan Birch.

Around two months ago, the councillor requested a speed survey be carried out on the stretch of road which highlighted moderate levels of speeding.

Coun Birch said: “The highways improvement budget is under increasing pressure. My priority is making sure every part of Droitwich East benefits from investment.

“By taking a staggered, cost-effective approach, we can stretch funds further and deliver improvements to more areas.

“It was important to act quickly and put measures in place to help tackle the issue.”

Coun Birch now hopes the sign will minimise disruption, minimise taxpayer costs, maximise the benefits of safer roads across the town. He now hopes

He added: “The VAS sign will now have time to do its job, and I’ll be requesting another speed survey to assess its impact. If further measures are needed, we’ll have the evidence to make the right decisions.”
