A SCHOOL in Droitwich has been crowned a centre of excellence in recognition of its education provision for the third time.
Westacre Middle School received the national Centre of Excellence award in acknowledgement of the education its offers to all of its pupils.
The school has been awarded the status by the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) for the third year in a row after two successful years previously.
The report which was compiled following a recent visit describes the school as a ‘highly inclusive establishment’ where the needs of all children from all backgrounds and abilities are identified, supported and effectively met.
Following the inspection, the school was also praised for ensuring that pupils receive a ‘rigorous and engaging curriculum’ and for recognising the importance of providing a well-rounded education with emphasis on promoting free extracurricular activities and events.
The school’s extensive pastoral support and the positive support it offers to pupils was also recognised as a strength in the report.
Catherine Doolin, deputy headteacher and inclusion leader at Westacre said: “We are delighted with the report, which reflects the hard work of our staff and pupils.
“Getting to know all of our children individually is a priority and we ensure all pupils have the support and challenge needed to make sure they fulfil their potential and have a positive school experience.”
The schools headteacher, Donna Evans, also spoke of the school’s pride for its offering to pupils and said they are ‘thrilled’ with the IQM report.
