A DROITWICH man is desperately trying to raise enough money for his mum’s funeral costs after she passed away from pancreatic cancer last month.
Elizabeth Court resident Daz Evans, 50, said he wants to give his mum Chris, known by many as ‘Spice’, the final service she deserves.
But Daz is struggling financially and is still paying back money he owes from burying his brother Andy, 52, just a few months ago following a brain aneurysm.
Daz, who has set up a Go Fund Me page for people to donate towards the funeral costs, said: “I absolutely hate doing this because we are such a proud working class family but I’m struggling so much.
“I haven’t got any savings and my family have never taken out insurance.
“If I can’t raise £3,000 I will need to delay the funeral until I can afford it.
“I’m just trying to do what’s best for my amazing mum.
“She deserved so much better than what I can provide.”
Daz moved from Devon to Droitwich after he suffered a heart attack which, he says, led to the breakdown of his 20-year marriage.
Mum Chris and brother Andy were his rock during that time, helping nurse him back to health.
A close friend of Chris, Jean Miles, said: “It’s been a terrible few months for Daz.
“No one could have ever foreseen something like this would happen in such a short space of time.
“We just need his mum to have a dignified funeral.
“Our beautiful and loving Spice deserves the best.”
