DROITWICH businesses are being urged to get spooky to spruce up the town centre by creating the best Halloween shop window.

The Droitwich Business Association (DBA) is running the competition as part of its efforts to get business booming in the town.

First and second prizes will win a £150 or £100 hamper donated by Natural Elements of Hartlebury, run by the organisation’s co-chair, John Hamilton, as well as a trophy.

The owners of the shop window which comes third will win lunch at the Droitwich Coffee Culture and Roastery.

To enter, people need to take a photograph of their spooktacular shop window and post it on the Droitwich High Street Facebook page using #droitwichspahalloween.

The competition will remain open until Saturday morning, with the three most-liked shop photos on social media being judged by members of the Norbury Theatre to determine the winner.

The DBA co-chair Paul White said the competition has become a real community event, with roughly 70 per cent of the high street shops already taking part.

He added: “Businesses on the high street are always good at doing festive window decorations for different celebrations and we wanted to do something to further encourage them.

“The windows designs do seem to be making a difference and it’s really creating a buzz around the town.”
