'Silent soldier silhouette' placed in Droitwich as part of Armistice Day centenary

WYCHAVON District Council has joined forces with the Royal British Legion to produce four ‘Silent Soldiers’ as part of the First World War centenary commemorations, writes Ryan Smith.

The silhouettes of the soldiers have been stationed in Droitwich, Evesham, Pershore and Broadway for the ‘Thank you’ campaign which invites the community to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought in The Great War.

Coun Richard Morris, Wychavon’s board member for economic growth and housing and armed forces champion, said he was very pleased to be involved in the commemoration.

“This is a good opportunity for us to take stock and reflect on the sacrifices that all service personnel give and this is a very real and symbolic way to help us to do that.”
