MUSICIAN Ed Sheeran MBE has donated a signed guitar to help raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.
An online auction will now take place for the new Martin & Co guitar which bears a message from Ed reading ‘play this guitar!’.
The instrument was donated to St Richard’s by the multi award-winning singer-songwriter in recognition of the care provided to someone special to him.
Tricia Cavell, fund-raising director at St Richard’s, said: “It came out of the blue – we were contacted and asked if we would be happy to accept this amazing donation, and of course it took us about ten seconds to say ‘Absolutely we would.’.
“We’re thrilled to be able to auction this in time for Christmas, ready to hopefully attack that global market of all those fans out there who may want this unique and very special Christmas gift.
“We are very, very grateful to Ed for this gift.
“It was in recognition of the services St Richard’s has provided to someone very special in Ed’s life.
“It is really something very, very unique and special – and it’s even more special that all the money raised by this wonderful gift goes toward serving future patients and families of St Richard’s Hospice.”
Bids can be placed online until midday on Monday, December 18, by visiting www.jumblebee.co.uk/signededsheeranguitar
The highest bidder will receive the guitar, which comes in its own original Martin & Co bag.
