BUSINESSES across Droitwich are being warned about a scam after a firm in the town received a call asking if it wanted to buy advertising space in a police magazine.
The caller, who phoned at 2pm on Tuesday (January 20), claimed to be from West Mercia Police but hung up when they were asked for their name.
The caller’s number was also witheld.
Insp Janet Heritage said there had been three or four similar incidents across Wychavon district and warned buisinesses and residents to be vigilant.
She added the police would never cold-call and did not even run a magazine which offered people the chance to advertise in.
Anyone who has any information or who has received a call should phone police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
