MEMBERS of Droitwich’s SPArkles WI are among those decorating a tree at this year’s Christmas Tree Festival.
The event at St Andrews Church is being launched tomorrow (Saturday) to coincide with the lights switch-on.
SPArkles’ tree will be decorated with items depicting the last year of events enjoyed by the WI branch – from pumpkin carving and morris dancing to ‘tea and tents’ festival and the yarnbombing.
Some decorations will also reflect the number of sub groups, including Knit and Natter, the book club, gardening club and photography group.
A knitted robin and tinsel, handmade crackers and festive giftboxes have all been crafted and photographs of members holding ‘I am WI’ signs have been made SPArkly for the tree, along with a photo of the members’ visit to Buckingham Palace for the institute’s centenary.
President Helen Starks said: “This is the second year we have done this and it gives us great pleasure to provide some SPArkle to the town and show people what we have been up to too.”
