A DROITWICH man held a surprise party for his wife to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.
Roger Biggs wanted to mark his and Joyce’s 60th milestone by doing something special at the Ravenstone Care Home, where he lives.
Joyce does not live at the home but is a frequent visitor to see her husband.
Roger, with the help of the care home’s head chef Jamie and activities co-ordinator Jay, organised a big party with a buffet and cake for 30 friends and relatives.
As well as the event itself, the happy couple also received a special congratulations card from HM The Queen.
Roger, 81, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to host such a special day at Ravenstone with our friends and family and I would like to say thank you to everyone that helped.
“I am so happy and thankful to everyone who came and hope that everyone enjoyed that day just as much as Joyce and I did.”
The home’s manager Wendy Stokoe said: “Roger is our resident bingo-caller and is the life and soul of the party, so it was no surprise that he wanted to pull out all of the stops for Joyce on this special day.
“We were honoured to help Roger make his wish a reality, and seeing Joyce so happy was the icing on the cake.
“It was a wonderful afternoon with plenty of smiles and laughter. It was wonderful to be part of such a fantastic day.”
