A DROITWICH opticians celebrated a team member who completed an apprenticeship programme and is urging people to follow suit.

Hasna Ahmed completed her optical apprenticeship at Specsavers in St Andrews Square last month.

The scheme is open to anyone from the age of 16, including both recent school or college leavers and those looking for a new challenge.

Training lasts for 13 months, however, degree level apprenticeships are also available which take three to four years to complete.

Emma Singh, store director at Specsavers Droitwich, said: “The apprenticeship programme offers a great career entry point for those either looking to kickstart or change their careers.

“It provides scope for learning and development and allows people to unlock their full potential in a professional yet supportive working environment.”

Hasna said:

“As a confused teen, I wasn’t sure what to do until my sister encouraged me to apply for the apprenticeship.

“Since starting the programme, I’ve discovered a newfound passion for optical care and now have some amazing career paths to choose from.”

The store is looking for new people to join their team as apprentices and full training will be given.
