STAFF at Droitwich Specsavers donned their favourite hats in aid of Brain Tumour Research on Friday, March 29.

The store, based at Salters Shopping Centre, joined others across the country on ‘Wear a Hat Day’ to help raise awareness for the charity.

Emma Singh, store director at Specsavers Droitwich, said: “Many people are unaware that eye tests are not only critical for your eyes but also your wider health.

“During a routine test, opticians can detect life-threatening issues including brain tumours.”

Wear a Hat Day is now in its tenth year and so far, more than £1million has been raised.

Famous faces, including supermodel and brain tumour survivor Caprice Bourret, have thrown their weight behind the nationwide campaign.

Emma added: “We had some spectacular hats on display and also managed to raise £39 for Brain Tumour Research.

“It was a lot of fun.”

Cash raised on Wear a Hat Day will go towards funding world-class brain tumour research centres in the UK where scientists are focused on improving outcomes for patients and finding a cure.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically only 1 per cent of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
