EVER wondered what life as Santa Claus is like?

Standard reporter Harry Leach sat down with the jolly man to try to get an EXCLUSIVE first-hand insight.

Q. First things first, what does Christmas Eve look like for you?”

A. (After finishing off his mince pie, and brushing down his red suit) I’m up at the crack of dawn.”

Q. Surely time-management’s a big issue?

A. I think it’s common misconception that I start in the evening and only work throughout the night. If you think about it – I have a lot of houses to visit around the world and so I need to use my time wisely.

Q. How does Christmas Eve start for you?

A. After I’ve woken up I feed my reindeers to make sure they are fueled for the magic journey ahead. Rudolph gets an extra carrot because he is the leader of the pack and does the most legwork.

Q. Do you do anything else before you set off?

A. I check the good and naughty list before I set off to make sure I know where I’m visiting. It’s upsetting that some children will miss out but they can always try again next year.

Q. What’s your favourite food to be left by the children?

A. I love a cold glass of milk and some cookies or a mince pie. And I’m partial to a real ale or a sherry every now and again too.

Q, What do you do once Christmas is wrapped up?

A. I like to put his feet up and unwind to some Christmas tunes. It’s a great feeling to sit by the fire in my grotto and know that everyone will be filled with joy over the holiday season.

Q. And what do you do for the rest of the year?

A. It’s back to work on January 1 because it takes a long time for me and my elves to make the presents for next year.

Santa concluded by saying he was looking forward to seeing all the good boys and girls when he dropped the presents off.
