Step out under stars for St Richard's Hospice Lantern Walk

Droitwich Editorial 18th Jan, 2026   0

THE ANNUAL Lantern Walk to raise funds for Worcester’s St Richard’s Hospice will take place at Croome Court, writes Toby Almond.

Returning for its eighth year, the event helps raise funds for the hospice, which provides free care for patients.

Sections of the route will be decorated with light displays and visitors are given lanterns or LED wands.

Singer Hannah Mac, from Worcester, will perform at the start of the walk and welcomes participants at the end.

Sofia Gunster, St Richard’s Hospice community and events fundraising lead, said: “This poignant event has a special place in our hearts as a way for people to pay tribute to the lives of those dear to them.

“As well as the gentle glow of the lanterns, sections of the route will be illuminated to create a memorable spectacle as we walk through the beautiful parkland.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who takes part and helps raise money for our free care to patients and their loved ones.”

Karen Gill, director at Russell Meers and Gill which sponsors the event, added: “This is our fourth year sponsoring the hospice’s Lantern Walk, and we’re delighted to continue our support.

“The team at St Richard’s provide such wonderful care to people when they need it most, and it’s important to us to help raise the funds needed for this to continue.”

The walk takes place on Saturday, February 7.
