STORM Francis wreaked havoc across Worcestershire, bringing down more than 50 fallen trees.

Specialist tree contractors have been thanked, along with some public-spirited individuals, for their response to the carnage.

Bromsgrove and Droitwich were among the areas affected on Tuesday.

A tree fell on the A442 in Cutnall Green, near the Rushock Trading Estate, leading to the road being closed for almost five hours.

Trees also fell in London Lane, Tutnall and Cobley, Lodge Crescent, Hagley, Apple Tree Walk in Ombersley and Holly Cross Green to Broome Lane in Clent where a specialist contractor was needed to deal with the situation.

The Holloway in Chaddesley Corbett was closed yesterday, due to fallen tree.

And there was a crash in the poor conditions on the M5 on Tuesday – the collision between an HGV and a car on the M5 between Junction 6 (Worcester) and Junction 5 (Droitwich) led to two of four lanes being shut while the debris was cleared.
