Sweet music on offer at Lower Bentley and Tardebigge churches

THERE are plenty of musical highlights to enjoy in two village churches.

St Mary’s Church in Lower Bentley starts proceedings on June 30 with a community ‘Songs of Praise’ at 6pm.

The following Sunday, July 7 at 4.30pm sees an organ recital at St Batholomew’s Church in Tardebigge by the hugely talented Hannah Gibson.




She’ll be playing works ranging from Richard Wagner to John Ireland in this beautiful church between Redditch and Bromsgrove.

A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire who has studied in Vienna and at Dundee Cathedral, she is musician in demand and tickets are £5 on the door.


On Sunday, July 14, again at St Bartholomew’s, there’s a programme of afternoon baroque by The Arden Quartet featuring some of Handel’s glorious arias plus music by Vivaldi, Purcell and much more.

Featuring Mike Ashley on lute and theorbo, Heather Holt on flute, recorder and viol, Jonathan Spencer on voice and viol and David Yates on recorders tickets are £4 each available on the door.

The series closes on Sunday, July 21 in the company of The Clent Consort, again at St Bartholomew’s, who will be singing Evensong.

The Consort is a choir formed some 17 years ago which has sung in cathedrals and great churches from Chichester to Southwark.

This event is at 6pm and is free.
