Sytchampton Endowed Primary School on a high as it launches virtual Bonfire Balloon Race to raise funds

THE PTA at Sytchampton Endowed Primary School are launching a virtual Bonfire Night Balloon Race to raise funds.

The innovative event runs between November 2 and 5 and entry is just £3 per person.

The prize money will depend on how many people enter with the first prize standing at 30 per cent of the overall profit, ten per cent for second and third place and the remaining 50 per cent going to the school.

The top prize is currently up to £104 and the other two stand at £34.60

Joint chairs Elaine Ball and Amy Smith have organised the event.

Elaine said: “The more balloons we sell the bigger the prize fund so it’s a good return for £3.

“We as a PTA are committed to raising as much money for our school as possible but obviously because of the current situation our fund-raising efforts have taken a huge hit, so we are trying different methods – like everyone else we are going online.”

The race Starts at 12pm on Monday, November 2, and ends at midday on Bonfire Night.

The balloons take flight and race across a virtual course, they move a random distance every hour (controlled by an algorithm to keep the race competitive and fair) until they reach the finish line.

Participants can track the balloons on the website and see how far they are travelling and if your winning.
